mille mercis. le deuxième jour.

Today, I am grateful for the following:

  1. Technology
  2. Health
  3. Coffee

I am well aware that this seems like a very disjointed list, but I’m giving myself permission to relax and just jot down what comes to me.

Technology:  Ready for the flow of thought on this one?  I was thinking it would be cool to come up with a different title format for the 7 day gratitude challenge.  I had this thought while cleaning out my laptop bag.  I found a instruction manual in my bag for a bike computer.  It was a cute size, and I started flipping through it.  It’s written in perhaps four or five languages.  I looked back to my laptop, realized I was working on my gratitude post, and wondered how to say ‘gratitude, day two’ in french.  I opened a new page and started looking around google.  I found the answer, wasn’t sure, an emailed a friend to ask for help.  My phone buzzed, I looked at a text, entered an order I received from Twitter &  sent a snap chat to my kids.  Technology is at the center of so much.  I am thankful for the potential it offers us to experience the world in ever-changing ways.

Health:  I could go on for pages about this one.  It’s hard not to think about health as my family and I spend more and more time on our bikes, training for the PMC.  Each time I hear of someone fighting cancer, MS, Parkinson’s, etc, I feel like I’ve been punched.  Literally – the wind momentarily knocked out of my system.  I am frightened by what is happening to so many…SO MANY…people.  I used to feel angry about it in a real fired-up way.  Now, my head is down, my feet are pedaling, and I cannot help but pray for good health for each & every one of us.

Coffee:  On a lighter note, I will round out today’s list with one of my favorite accessories: coffee.  Do I need to elaborate?

You know that friend who has it all together? Yeah. That’s not me. What I can offer you instead are my experiences, insights, and passions. Pithy observations about making cookies. Wry commentary on running a business. Loving (if slightly sarcastic) parenting advice. And if that doesn’t interest you, I have dogs. Cute ones.
