#PMC2018

In a couple of days, I’ll commence my annual cycling trek from Boxborough to Sturbridge, from Sturbridge to Bourne, and from Bourne to Provincetown. It’s PMC time – one of my favorite weekends of the summer.

I am fortunate to ride as a member of Team Crank – a small but mighty team of ten. We have two Pedal Partners, Tommy & Grant, and our team’s fundraising efforts are being channeled directly into two Dana Farber programs responsible for developing novel treatments for Pediatric Cancers.

This is my 12th year doing the PMC. It all began in 2007 when a customer ordered cupcakes and happened to mention that she had cancer. Our friendship was fleeting; I only met her in person once. In classic Karen-style, I made a great impression by fainting in her doorway, a victim once again of wretched vasovagal. However brief, this relationship had a huge impact on my life that continues to this day.

The riding is the easy part, except of course if Mother Nature decides to kick things up a notch which she has the habit of doing every now and then. Oh yeah…just like she did in 2014.

You know that friend who has it all together? Yeah. That’s not me. What I can offer you instead are my experiences, insights, and passions. Pithy observations about making cookies. Wry commentary on running a business. Loving (if slightly sarcastic) parenting advice. And if that doesn’t interest you, I have dogs. Cute ones.
