St. Paddy’s Day is a very special day in our house, which might be odd considering we’re Jewish. But, as the luck of the Irish would have it, we were forever connected to this day because it was the day that Sammy Witt entered our lives. My first sight of Sammy was a bundled blanket with a tiny beanie tied with green ribbons poking out of the top. Our St. Patrick’s Day baby.

In many ways, Sammy is like a leprechaun: full of energy, always on the go, entertaining, lucky, short (said with love). But, as a wise short young man once told me, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, but the size of the fight in the dog.

Sammy: wishing you a year filled with safe, slow, responsible, defensive driving. May your adventures be memorable, your days filled with great times with friends and family, and your nights dull, boring, and trouble-free. Play nice on the field except when you’re facing LS, Concord or Westford. Remember to wait for your mumsie when we go out biking together so we can stay friends. Keep up everything with your music, except, of course, the volume on your amp…that you can turn down a bit so the walls in our house stop shuddering. May you catch many fish, and more importantly, may your boat stay afloat. May food always be close at hand, and may you have at least one burrito a day.
