Employee Spotlight: Erica

As any business owner knows, you’re only as good as the people you hire. I am incredibly lucky to have so many talented, hardworking members on the Bisousweet team. They are the chocolate chips in my cookie, the cream in my coffee, and, well, you get the picture.

Pretty obvious why we call her “Shorty.”

Introducing our first ever victim subject for our new Employee Spotlight feature, Erica Linstrom.

How did you come to work at Bisousweet and what do you do here?

I started working at Bisousweet back in March of 2014. I was referred to Karen by a former co-worker of mine and from the moment I talked to her on the phone I knew that I had found a wonderful person to work with. When I started working I immediately felt at home from being fondly nicknamed “shorty”, although my 6′ 3″ frame begs to differ, to Karen getting extended table legs to raise a work station so I didn’t have to bend to work. I do a little bit of everything at Bisousweet from mixing, to depositing, to finishing and testing (my favorite part of the job).

What’s your poison?

Erica honed her cake eating skills from an early age.

I have always been a good eater. I love food (runny yolks and ham aside). I’m always eating at the bakery and it always seems to be Karen who catches me with something else in my mouth. “The happiest eater” she calls me. Well, when you work at a bakery it’s hard not to be. Butter, sugar and chocolate—what could be better? All the sweets aside I would have to say that spaghetti (well, pasta in general) covered in homemade red sauce or alfredo, piled high with roasted veggies has got to be my favorite meal. I guess that’s really more than one meal but hey I can’t choose just one.

Who are your people?

I am the oldest of three busy girls, all still living at home. The kitchen/dinner table is the place we all meet at the end of the day when we are all home. We talk, laugh, connect and eat. The kitchen is the most popular room in the Linstrom household. It’s the gathering spot and it’s a happy place for me. I love baking, but being in the kitchen and cooking is my release.

When you’re not here, where are you?

When I’m not at work I am spending time with my family, my boyfriend Collin, and his family. In the summer we are spending weekends at his family’s home in Plymouth. In the winter I’m honing my skiing skills (I am a new skier as of last year). I am a massive sports fan but mostly Patriots and Bruins. I love The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. I am working toward getting my EMT license. I also work for my uncle on weekends in the spring and fall as a sports photographer. I like to constantly move.

What would be the perfect gift for you?

The perfect gift for me would be anything that involves spending time with my family, friends and boyfriend. One of my cherished memories is sitting in the living room on Christmas Eve with 40 of my family members all opening gifts, laughing and enjoying each other. I took my sisters to the Boston Ballet a few years ago so that we could spend time together it was so much fun.

What is Your Favorite Bisousweet Product?

I would have to say my favorite sweet from Bisousweet would have to be the chocolate rug or lemon shortbread cookie.

So, there is a little bit about myself. I am so happy to be a part of the Bisou family and to be able to create all the delicious treats you all enjoy so much!!!

Xoxo,

Erica

You know that friend who has it all together? Yeah. That’s not me. What I can offer you instead are my experiences, insights, and passions. Pithy observations about making cookies. Wry commentary on running a business. Loving (if slightly sarcastic) parenting advice. And if that doesn’t interest you, I have dogs. Cute ones.
