The fireplace hums with a perpetual sizzle, interrupted now and then with an unexpected loud pop that startles Eloise & Wilson. Max notices nothing.
Eloise hovers next to me standing guard, always alert.
Max relaxes on the floor, recuperating from pneumonia and the strenuous morning that consisted of eating breakfast, lounging and napping.
Wilson sits to my right, reveling in the warmth of the fire and the gentle glow of Christmas lights.
It’s Christmas Day, and soon it will be the second night of Hanukkah. It’s the first time in over a month that I have sat in my living room, surrounded by puppies and plants, the light of day pouring in through the windows, and I am overwhelmed with peace.
Wishing each of you a day filled with lightness, laughter and love.
xoxo
