Most people think of this time of year as the seasons of Hannukah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa. I’m also partial to Festivus (I, too, find tinsel distracting).
The pile of (unread, or unfinished) books next to my bed suggests that I should add a new holiday to my list.
Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to…
Jolabokaflod.
This Icelandic tradition starts with giving new books on Christmas eve to loved ones. Everyone then gets into bed with their books, and reads.
While I probably would be asleep in under five minutes, I love this idea. In fact, I might even celebrate it early this year. And wouldn’t this mug be perfect to drink tea while I read?
Happy Jolabokaflod!
xoxo,
Karen
