Motherly Day 2022

I first started thinking of Mother’s Day as Motherly Day in 2017. For some reason, a holiday that once felt harmless began to niggle at me. The celebrations were less joyful because I couldn’t shake the thought of folks who felt winces of pain, flashes of loss, heartache, or struggle.

It’s important to acknowledge every person’s story.

I love traditions. I also love change.

This year, I propose we collectively create a new tradition that celebrates Motherly Day. Let’s make this holiday more inclusive by honoring the motherly instinct in each other, regardless of gender, regardless of circumstances.

Sending love, hugs, and gratitude to those who have stepped into a motherly role for others. Please know the impact your love, support, and interest has in that person’s life, and how this will ripple forward to so many others.

With love to all –

Karen

You know that friend who has it all together? Yeah. That’s not me. What I can offer you instead are my experiences, insights, and passions. Pithy observations about making cookies. Wry commentary on running a business. Loving (if slightly sarcastic) parenting advice. And if that doesn’t interest you, I have dogs. Cute ones.
